Noble’s New Mobile Technology for JBPHH
After reviewing the in-store buying process at JBPHH, Noble introduced a new technology that reduces the time spent by customers in the store, allowing them more valuable time at the job site. Peter Crawford, Joshua Drew, and Akash Banginwar, members of Noble's technology team, developed a mobile-first scanning and Point of Sale (POS) application. The new app allows customers to scan items and create quotes with the tap of a finger.
With Noble's tablet-based system, customers have access to "Smart Carts." Each cart has a mounted LTE-enabled tablet and wireless scanner, for a quick and simple shopping experience. Benefits of the system are an average 50% reduction in time needed to create a quote and even greater efficiencies when the customer pre-orders on Noble's mobile website. After shopping, the system automatically emails the quotes to both the customer and their shop supervisor/approver. These features reduce paper waste and make the entire procurement process more efficient.
All new customers who use the in-store app are automatically registered to shop on Noble's Joint Base Pearl Harbor/Hickam e-commerce website. This mobile-friendly website lets customers view items and check real-time stock levels for both Hangar 11 and Building 44. The website also allows customers to submit requests for quotes, place orders, and view their transactional history.
