
A five-month contract was awarded to Noble on March 30 by the USAF for a Contractor Operated Hardware Store (COHS), located at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Services support the 718th Civil Engineering Squadron and Military Family Housing (MFH) residents at the base.
Under the new contract, Noble operates a Contractor Operated Hardware Store (COHS) during duty hours at Eagle Hardware store locations throughout the base. Store personnel issue, deliver, and store a variety of equipment, parts and, supplies for construction, repair, and facility maintenance and repair by authorized government employees and MFH residents.
Eagle Hardware COHS
Noble manages the storefront located in all Eagle Hardware stores at Kadena Air Base, Camp Foster, Camp Kinser, and Camp Courtney. Noble's COHS personnel maintain shelf stock of a variety of commercial and industrial products and high-use/consumable materials for immediate issue. Noble's management and customer service team provide product expertise, support spot buys, ensure quality products and services, arrange delivery, manage material, and perform kitting.
Items available at the COHS include tools, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, welding, pipefitting, carpentry, landscaping, pavement and grounds maintenance, masonry electronic monitoring, controls and alarms, painting and wall covering, hardware, pest control, appliances, appliance parts, and additional materials.
Kadena Air Base
Kadena Air Base is a USAF base located in Okinawa, Japan. It houses the USAF 18th Wing, the 353d Special Operations Group, and a variety of associated units including the 718th Civil Engineering Squadron. It is the largest U.S. Air Force base in the Far East, with more than 20,000 American service members, family members, and Japanese employees living or working there.
The 718th Civil Engineering Squadron
The 718th Civil Engineering Squadron oversees four flights providing housing, facilities, and infrastructure across the island of Okinawa. They manage $2 billion in design and construction projects for the 18th Wing.
- The Engineering flight is the largest in the Air Force and is responsible for strategic planning/design and large-scale construction on Okinawa.
- The Housing flight is the largest joint service housing office in the DoD, responsible for 7,820 military family homes and 1,798 dorm rooms. The Housing flight gives centralized support to U.S. military and U.S. civilian personnel residing in Okinawa.
- The Asset Accountability flight manages real property and environmental, including agreements, permits, licenses, and joint-use agreements, expertise on pollution prevention, stewardship of natural and cultural resources, and hazardous material compliance.
- The Housing Maintenance flight is the second-largest flight in the civil engineer group and is active across seven installations on Okinawa.
