Rhonda Petersen, Program Manager for the Noble Naval Station Great Lakes Storefront, was awarded a CO coin for NSGL COVID-19 Operation support. Robert Warrington, Production Division Director for NAVFAC MIDLANT, PWD Great Lakes, recommended Rhonda to receive the honor in recognition of her continued support and dedication.
Rhonda accepted the CO coin in a ceremony held at the base on July 17.
In a correspondence to Noble's senior management, Alexander C. Eleiott, ENS USN NAVFAC MIDLANT NOR, commended Rhonda and her Noble Storefront Team for their incredible support.
"Gentlemen,
I'm reaching out to acknowledge the fantastic performance of Rhonda Petersen and the rest of the Noble team here at NAVSTA Great Lakes - I want to ensure they get the credit they deserve.
I'm sure you're aware of some of the contingency operations we've been executing in the face of this ongoing COVID situation, including our monumental effort to convert prior drill halls into sailor berthing quarters. Operating under these conditions has been immensely difficult, but in speaking with our Shops workforce, one thing has been made abundantly clear – we couldn't have executed without Noble's stellar performance and commitment to excellence.
Put simply, Rhonda and the Noble team are critical to our mission, and we're immensely grateful for their continued support. They're an invaluable part of our team."
Very Respectfully,
Alexander C. Eleiott
ENS, CEC, USN
Assistant Public Works Officer
PWD Great Lakes, NAVFAC MIDLANT
The challenge coin tradition keeps service members connected. Coins commemorate units of service, missions, and leaders. First responders may receive coins for heroic efforts during times of tragedy. The Commanding Officer coin presented to Rhonda honors her connection with Commanding Officer Captain R. C. Leung, Naval Station Great Lakes, and the mission to combat COVID-19 at NSGL.
